Combining cross-industry expertise from the worlds of finance, data science and the art market, Overstone has developed a platform for the financial management of art collections, unlocking the economic value of art in response to demand from lenders and collectors. Overtstone’s user-friendly platform is designed to bridge the gap between industries that don’t speak each other’s language, taking the guesswork and gamble out of calculation of risk when it comes to demonstrating the economic potential of art.

 

To give their clients confidence in their services, Overstone requested a high-calibre pitch document designed to guide platform-users through their offering. A tone of voice workshop with the team identified a desire to find the balance between the analytical, results focused side of the brand’s personality with a need to create an experience that felt exciting and unusual. 

 

After reconsidering the existing copy to ensure the offering was being presented in a crystal clear and engaging way, accessible to anyone who might be reading it, the entire document was restructured to reduce comprehension fatigue. Sign-posting statements were introduced to help readers navigate the document quickly, and a workshop with the team resulted in a new tag-line for Overstone that better captured the ethos behind the brand. Finally, short biographies were written for each member of the team to highlight Overstone’s USP - a wide-reaching range of experience that transforms data-science into approachable, trustable information. 

 

To ensure a distinct look and feel for the document, demonstrating the individuality and original thinking at the heart of Overstone’s process, the layout grid is revealed throughout the designs. Reducing this grid to two intersecting lines - reflecting the disparate industries Overstone’s software brings together - the slanted grid is paired with cropped images of fine art, positioned at these intersections at a dramatically reduced scale to ensure that art appears on every page without becoming a key focus.
