Sustainable Marketplace are an e-commerce platform focused on the future of sustainability, offering customers ethical fashion, vegan beauty products and homeware ideas, curated for the conscious consumer.
In order to build the brand behind this new platform on a foundation of authenticity, Sēon developed a brand persona defined by the utopian future the platform aims to bring to fruition.
Bright and surreal, the new brand identity establishes Sustainable Marketplace as a forward-looking disruptor in the industry.
Sēon’s design for the new logo transforms an imperfect geometric circle into a versatile graphic element. Working as a framing device and brand mark, this surreal shape wraps around an understated sans serif to ensure a contemporary crispness.
Developing a series of surreal landscapes interrupted with additional geometric shapes rendered in translucent gradients, Sēon built a dreamlike, dali-esque world to form the background of the website. These photo montage treatments draw together striking images of the natural environment and product imagery, creating a link between the brand’s offering and the untouched natural world.
To further reinforce the sense of magical realism, Sēon established a varied colour palette drawing together bright hues and muted pastels to evoke a futuristic sense of playfulness and distinguish Sustainable Market from competitors.
The website was designed with ease of use in mind, workshopping the ideal user journey before Sēon developed a layout that placed emphasis on product purchasing. Using slender colourful boxes to frame product imagery, we established a method of ensuring product imagery remained consistent, even when the images themselves were shared from a diverse range of sources.
Sēon established a complete set of Instagram Highlight icons, to codify content shared to the brand’s stories. Later, we provided guidance on design for social media, developing comprehensive guidelines regarding the content that would be appropriate for Sustainable Marketplace to share. We also provided advice on how to source and share imagery that aligned with the brand ID.
