Herridge Pottery creates small-batch handmade ceramics for the home, table and kitchen. Every Herridge piece is uniquely handcrafted in the South Oxfordshire countryside, with slight variations that add to its charm—no two pieces are exactly alike, making them perfectly imperfect.

The name "Herridge" comes from founder Henrietta's grandfather Geoffrey, and reflects a family tradition of artists and makers. She takes pride in keeping this heritage alive, working in small batches so that everything is made with care and intention.

"Embracing flaws and loving something in spite of those flaws is a true and pure form of a relationship, be it with a person, or indeed, an object. Finding magic in those imperfections, and enjoying the true, unpolished character of something is a noble and fulfilling way of forming a long-lasting bond with something or someone. It's indeed this long-lasting relationship that Herridge intends to form with their customers and audience."

"An identity that reflects the playful joy of creativity, the freedom that engaging with your passion provides, is reflected in the allegory of a pig jovially rolling around in the mud."

A playfully imperfect placement of crisp serif lettering creates a unique wordmark that's instantly recognised. The text arches and shifts depending on the context in which it is placed.

A palette that sparks joy - Indian Red is used sparingly as an accent colour, alongside Celadon Light, Celadone and Misty Rose. These highly saturated accents are balanced with French Grey and Olive as splash colours, with Dark Charcoal as the darkest tone.

The serif typeface of the logomark is offset with a sans-serif pairing that brings a modern sensibility, balancing out the aesthetic of this route as a mix of the romance of the past, and the clean-cut modernity of the now. It works well for high clarity reading in contrast to the logo.

The real magic of the brand logo is crystallised in the 'maker's mark' - a pressed-in stamp onto the surface of the pottery, branding each individual ware as Herridge's unique own. A further appreciation of small, human imperfection can be found in the difference between each hand-applied Herridge logo, each varying one from the other.
